KinTune is a family board for the home. This policy explains what information KinTune keeps, why, and the choices you have. In short: we keep only what the board needs to work, we never sell it, and we never show ads.
Who we are
KinTune (“we”, “us”) runs the website hellokintune.com and the app at app.hellokintune.com. You can reach us at hello@hellokintune.com.
What we keep
- Your account: your name and email address, and an identifier from Google or Microsoft when you sign in with them. We never see or store your Google or Microsoft password.
- Your family's board: what you add to KinTune, such as family members' names and birthdays, chores and routines, checkmarks, events, notes, lists, meal plans, settings and the grown-up passcode.
- Photos and pictures you upload for the photo frame, profile faces and celebrations.
- Calendars you connect: if you connect a Google or Outlook calendar, we keep a read-only permission (encrypted) and read the events of the calendars you choose, to show them on your board and send event reminders. If you add a calendar link instead, we keep that link.
- Phone notifications: if you turn them on, the address your phone's browser gives us for delivering them, and your notification choices.
- Technical information needed to run the service, such as a sign-in cookie and basic server logs.
Children
Children don't have KinTune accounts. A parent adds children to the family board and chooses what to include, such as a first name, a birthday or a picture. Children use the board in their home to see and check off their own chores. We use children's information only to show the family's board to that family. If you're a parent and want something about your child removed, you can delete it from the board, or email us and we'll remove it.
How we use information
- To show your family's board, calendars and parent app, and to keep them in sync across your devices.
- To send the notifications you turn on.
- To make read-aloud audio of chores, notes and verses. That text is sent to a speech service to be turned into audio.
- To look up the weather for the city you enter, and products for the grocery list if you use the Walmart cart.
- To keep KinTune secure, fix problems, and answer you when you contact us.
We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or build advertising profiles.
Google and Microsoft data
KinTune's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Calendar data from Google or Microsoft is used only to show your calendars on your family's board and send the event reminders you choose. It is not used for advertising, not sold, not used to train AI models, and not shared with anyone except as needed to provide KinTune or as required by law. People at KinTune don't read it, unless you ask us to help with a problem, it's needed for security, or the law requires it.
Who we share with
We use a small number of service providers to run KinTune, only for that purpose:
- Hosting: our servers and backups are with DigitalOcean, in the United States.
- Sign-in and calendars: Google and Microsoft, when you choose to use them.
- Read-aloud audio: Google's Gemini speech service, which receives the text being read aloud.
- Weather: Open-Meteo, which receives the city you enter.
- Grocery cart: Walmart, which receives product searches from your grocery list when you use that feature.
- Phone notifications: your phone's push service (for example Apple or Google), which delivers the notification.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the safety of people or the service.
How long we keep it
We keep your family's information while your account is open. Notes are removed automatically after two weeks. If you ask us to delete your family's account, we delete it within 30 days. Copies in backups are removed as those backups expire, within a further 30 days.
Security
KinTune is served only over HTTPS. Calendar permissions are encrypted, sign-in sessions are stored as one-way codes, and each family's information is kept separate from every other family's. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and will tell you promptly if a problem affects it.
Your choices
- Change or delete anything on your board at any time.
- Disconnect a calendar from the parent app, or remove KinTune from your Google or Microsoft account.
- Turn notifications off from the bell in the parent app.
- Ask us for a copy of your family's information, or to delete it, by emailing hello@hellokintune.com.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and let you know in the app or by email before the change takes effect.
