Getting started
What do I need?
A tablet with a web browser for the wall (Android or iPad), a phone for the parent app, and a Google or Microsoft account to sign in with.
How do I set up the kitchen tablet?
Open app.hellokintune.com on the tablet, sign in, and add it to the home screen. That makes it open full screen.
On Android, we recommend the Fully Kiosk Browser app. It opens KinTune when the tablet starts, keeps the screen on, and can wake the screen when someone walks up. On an iPad, turn on Guided Access to keep the board in front.
Plug the tablet in and, if it has the option, turn on battery protection (on Samsung it's called “Protect battery”). It helps a battery that's always charging last longer.
How does the other parent join?
In the parent app, tap the circle at the top, then Make an invite link, and send it. They sign in with their own Google or Microsoft account and see the same family board. Links work for a week.
How do I install the parent app on my phone?
Open app.hellokintune.com/parent on your phone. On iPhone, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, tap the menu, then Install app. Turn on notifications from the bell in the app.
Calendars
How do I add my Google or Outlook calendar?
In the parent app, open Family & account → Calendars and tap Connect Google Calendar or Connect Outlook Calendar. Sign in, allow read-only access, then tick the calendars you want on the board and choose whose each one is.
Can KinTune change my calendar?
No. KinTune asks only to read your calendars. You can disconnect any time from the same screen, or remove KinTune's access from your Google or Microsoft account settings.
What about an iPhone (iCloud) calendar?
Apple doesn't offer a sign-in connection for calendars, so iCloud calendars are added with a link. In the iPhone Calendar app, share the calendar as a Public Calendar, copy the link, and paste it on the board under Settings → Calendars.
Everyday use
I forgot the grown-up passcode.
Any signed-in parent can set a new one from the parent app: tap the circle at the top, then Board passcode. You don't need the old one.
Does the board work if the internet drops?
Yes, for a while. The board keeps what it last loaded, and changes catch up when the connection returns.
How do I delete our family's data?
Email hello@hellokintune.com from the address you sign in with, and we'll delete your family's account and everything in it within 30 days. Each parent can also leave the family from the parent app.
